During the holiday break, I took some time in the study and read the previous book again. This book is about some business ideas of the founders of Amazon in the United States. In the new year, I want to share with you~
In this book, I made a few reflections on myself:
1. Long-termism is applicable to all walks of life. It will make us calm down and focus on doing one thing well. This feeling and goal are very good.
2. Ordinary people, if they want to make achievements in a field, they will be more likely to succeed with long-term ideas and focused spirit.
3. After reading the development history of Amazon, you will find that the domestic Internet giants are actually not that strong and not forward-looking. Whether it is Taobao, JD.com and other business models, they are only imitating foreign countries, and, until now, there are It is still many years behind.
4. A person's values are very important and determine your life, life, and destiny.
5. In the future, it is very important for our children to learn English reading. Many foreign English materials are generally a few years earlier than those in China.
...
In the past so many years, I have read a lot of books at home and abroad, and found some differences in the way of thinking between Asia and Europe and the United States. For example, in the autobiographical memories of our Asian entrepreneurs, we generally emphasize that when we first started our business, we were ambitious and different, and we must do a great job. In the autobiographical memories of European and American entrepreneurs and politicians, they are more inclined to laugh at themselves, emphasizing that they tried to do something at the beginning, and they did a good job, and they continued to do it.
Entrepreneur management in Asia is more advocating culture and philosophy, while entrepreneurs in Europe and the United States pay more attention to data, systems and so on. So, you will find it more interesting. However, there are several excellent ideas that these founders have in common.
For example, Amazon's Bezos, he has always emphasized long-termism, focusing on providing value to your customers, not just looking at immediate benefits. This is the same as the "altruism" concept mentioned by Kazuo Inamori. Helping others, don't just think about your own interests. The essence is the same. In the end, customers will recognize you, and others will help you. After a long time, you will see good results .
Compared with trading, everyone can make an extended thinking, long-termism, is it suitable for our trading?
My own understanding is that the long-termism in trading is not to randomly find a position to enter the market and ignore him.
This reminds me of my trading between 2005 and 2012. At that time, I was very short-term. After a few years, I traded countless times, but in the end it was a big loss. The loss was close to 95% of the principal. If, I go back now and make a hypothesis about those years:
1. If, I place 1-2 times a year, buy more orders.
2. What if the entry position of the 1-2 long orders is near the low position?
3. What if the profit of this 1-2 times should be taken longer?
4. Long-term thinking, what will happen if this model is replicated for 6 years?
What will happen? I think it must not be worse than losing 95%.
Back then, why didn’t I have this kind of long-term thinking? Here are my real thoughts back then:
1. Once a year, the number of times is too small, what if there is no market? Isn't this year for nothing?
2. I also know that the price is low to buy long, but it is not low now. In the past few months, have I been short and waiting for nothing? It's a waste of money to have short positions.
3. The profit has been kept for so long, if the profit retraces, wouldn’t these months be in vain?
Afterwards, it proved that it was too short-sighted to only look at the immediate short-term benefits. In the early days, during those 6 years, the loss results were the best proof. This is true for transactions, investments, and businesses. Early on, I didn't understand at all what the ultimate rule of trade was to be profitable!
Finally, the new year has begun. In terms of trading, I think, let's not think that I must seize the big market this year, or that I will do a lot in other aspects this year. In many cases, in fact, we can only follow the trend , and some things are beyond the reach of human beings.
Let's try to extend the time period and look at 2023-2025. Suppose we make a 3-year plan and plan with long-term thinking. In this way, our mind will be more calm, more stable, and the success rate will be much higher. Less is better, slow is steady, steady is fast, this is my understanding of long-termism.
In the new year, let's encourage each other together, and wish all the students a happy new year and a happy family, thank you!
